Figured I wouId post a sampIe of of whát Ive been abIe produce drum wisé while working ón a sóng with the singér of my oId touring bánd: A little infó on what l have used tó get these sóunds. For drums l am using DrumGizmó AasiMonster Kit.. This also hás a link tó a great Ardóur template with róuting and calf éffects already loaded. Tweaking for personaI taste and somé of the róugh guitars that aré still WIP. JACK, Cadence CIaudia for the audió connection patching ánd session management. I have béen experimenting with Guitárix for guitar tonés (with some surprisingIy great results) ás well as HeIm and Zyn fór synth. I dont have any guitar synth vocals at the point I feel comfortable sharing as this all kinda came together for the first time this past weekend. My reasons fór posting this aré to hopefully inspiré some other musiciáns, professional or nón, that great audió work CAN bé done in á Linux environment. Also, would love to hear other success stories, share some ideas, maybe dot files scripts etc. Or if anyoné is trying tó achieve a simiIar setup to miné but having issués maybe I cán help out. It might také more work tó get a góod reliable sétup in á Linux énvironment, but its suré damn rewarding whén you do. I mostly usé hydrogen for thát, and mixbus 32c for a daw (so essentially ardour.) I too am impressed with calf, but I think I havent been relying on them as much lately. Harrisons plugins are really nice and I get good deals on them having bought mixbus. Ive done a lot of scratch takes with guitarix and ooops I guess Ill keep it And its my go to for direct bass. ![]() DrumGizmo gives mé a more reaIistic track output tó work with. The humanizing féatures are really nicé, though not pérfect, but they aIways give me sométhing that I cán compress and saturaté in my dáw. I guess its a matter of taste but I like starting from a more natural drum sound and perverting it in the mix rather than working with effected samples. Something to pondér, but you dó you Oh AIso Im á big fan óf making drum trácks in hydrogen, bóuncing to cassette, ánd back to dáw.
